The Engineering Department is one of the core functions at Harrier LLC, supporting the Harrier network in the upkeep, repair and scheduled maintenance of all machinery on site.
The Maintenance Engineer Apprentice will support in the designing and implementation of cost-effective equipment repairs to help improve safety and reliability, and assist in developing project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines. They will also be developing, testing and evaluating theoretical designs.
The role will involve working closely with colleagues both within the Engineering Department and other departments across the business to ensure that a highly responsive service is delivered.
Shift work and overtime may be required due to business needs, particularly where manufacturing equipment is in continual 24-hour operation.

Key responsibilities and tasks
- Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance
- Responding to breakdowns – reactively and proactively
- Diagnosing faults
- Repairing equipment
- Obtaining specialist components, fixtures or fittings
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
- Creating maintenance procedures
- Maintaining stocks of supplies and equipment working collaboratively with procurement. Ensuring uptime kit parts and re-order parts are replaced when used from stock
- Ensuring machine downtime is kept to a minimum via efficient diagnosis and repair of faults
- Identify opportunities and remedies to further increase uptime of all machines
- To keep accurate maintenance and repair records
- Ensure repair tickets are responded to in a timely manner and closed out immediately upon completion
- Effective and efficient equipment and machinery maintenance and repair work
- Undertaking improvement projects and tasks as part of the maintenance team
